Temazcal Tradicional

I love this place. I went again today for the second time and I plan on going every 2 weeks or so. The infusion water used for the sauna is so nice. I feel spiritually rejuvenated after going here.

Me and my girlfriend were looking for a more authentic and traditional temazcal while in Oaxaca. And we got really lucky with this place, very authentic and traditional. We booked it for the Temazcal, massage and feet ionization treatment. Marcela received us and explained us everything very well, the process and the ancestral traditions. We loved the experience and we definitely recommend it. In the end Marcela got us taxi to go back to the center. Thank you Marcela and family!

Antoineta is an Angel. So much honor and gratitude for her to carry forth these critical ancient traditions. The unique difference between this and other Temazcals I've attended was that you enter backwards. Inside, you've got the whole place to yourself. And b/c of the setup (in her house vs outside) and not having firek-eepers bring in the hot stones, the stones are heated thru some sort of furnace rather than a traditional fire. She plays this amazing traditional music, which is piped thru the Temazcal. Her whole house, made of adobe, radiates Mother Earth energy. She does a full limpia with copal and plants before you enter and offers an amazing lemongrass tea (grown in her garden) after the Temzacal. If you've never been to a Temazcal, it's an ancient tradition to cleanse, clear toxins in the body and remove energies or entities that have attached to your etheric body. It's an amazing experience; highly recommended. Absolutely thrilled I found this place!

We wanted to try a temazcal experience while in Oaxaca and booked an appointment here for 3 people. It's very close to the city, so a quick taxi ride for 80 pesos gets you there. Temazcal can book your return taxi as well. We had the 1.5 hour experience which included 30 min in the "sauna" with fresh aloe included for moisturizing, a quick shower, and a 45 min or so massage. This cost 800 pesos/person. We didn't know this ahead of time, but it is also possible to request a shaman for the experience in advance, which requires a 60-min stay inside the "sauna" for an additional costs. The shaman goes inside with you and leads the experience, which we'd like to do next time. The massages were good, though a bit different. One was very strong, another medium and a third relaxing. All good in their own way, but you may want to request a strong massage specifically if you prefer that. Also, keep in mind that there is only space for 2 massage tables in the main dark room. With three people, one of us had to have the massage in the lobby area which is bright. Overall, a great relaxing experience, which I highly recommend to try!
