This also doubles up as a church and museum, I think seniors are free if you got proof. Regular admission is 45 pesos each. I forgot which days they got Mass but all the art work is displayed it really is nice and wonderful experience that I wish people visit.

Frankly, most people come here for the plaza in front with ice cream stands. I came because I had heard there was a collection of retablos or ex-votos. The staff in the church bookshop knew nothing about it. Luckily the church office staff next door told me they were in the museum (hidden in the back) which was closed for lunch. Locals come here because Soledad Is the patron saint of Oaxaca which makes her and the church special. The museum entry is by donation. It was disappointing. No labels, just a jumble of misc. stuff with lots of signs not to take photos or put your hands on the glass. In the back room, I found the ex-votos. Unfortunately, almost all were painted by the same person and they all looked about the same (there are 236 of them). The stories were impossible to read due to the writing, dim lighting and the ex-votos being hung high overhead and up to the ceiling. Bummer. The church was simple inside. Snatches of organ music randomly played to show the organ off. Some restoration or repair was going on in the middle. Not much info was shared about Sra. Soledad or the building. But the church and its plaza were attractive, if not peaceful.
