Parque Nacional Cañón del Sumidero

Absolutely amazing place to visit. The boat costs 270 pesos per person. Takes two hours. Make sure to tip the guide in the end. They do a great job.

My most beautiful day in Chiapas. The boat ride was convenient, thorough and exciting, and I truly enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of the natural masterpiece. Sumidero is a deep 13-km-long canyon with vertical walls reaching up to one kilometer in height, and is covered in dense tropical rainforest rich in wildlife. I could spot crocodiles, ospreys, vultures, snowy egrets, and many other types of birds. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the incredible amount of plastic trash in the canyon. I’m surprised that the management of the National Park does invest a portion of the income in cleanup. I shared a few photos of the plastic pollution so that I tell you an honest visual story. El viaje en bote fue conveniente, completo y emocionante, y realmente disfruté del impresionante paisaje de la obra maestra natural. Sumidero es un cañón profundo de 13 km de largo con paredes verticales que alcanzan hasta un kilómetro de altura y está cubierto por una densa selva tropical rica en vida silvestre. Pude ver cocodrilos, águilas pescadoras, buitres, garcetas blancas y muchos otros tipos de aves. La única razón por la que le doy 4 estrellas es la increíble cantidad de basura plástica en el cañón. Me sorprende que la administración del Parque Nacional invierta una parte de los ingresos en la limpieza. Get out early in the morning before all the diesel boats are already there and you will have much clearer air. Majestic canyon. Very enjoyable ride. Prices are pretty set.

Hated being squeezed in a boat with people in every photo. Got to see alligators, monkeys, birds. Definitely beautiful and a sight to see!
