A very long, exhausting hike but totally worth it. Wear good shoes and go at your own pace! The top is breathtaking!! Be careful if you bring any food...the coati's will steal it (but that was kind of the best part!!)

Most people come here to visit the pyramid which is on top of a steep mountain trail on the cliff. If you are decently fit, it takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours to go up top. Sometimes it takes 3 hours or more depending on how fast you climb. Below the mountain, there are many artifact shops and restaurants and its a nice place to hangout.

The viewpoint is closed due to the pandemic as of February 8, 2021. There is no warning of it being closed (including on the sign at the beginning of the trail that informs you of the fee to enter the pyramid) until you're within 10 minutes of the pyramid where there is a locked gate. My hotel told me the pyramid and viewpoint were open. On my way back down I warned dozens of hikers of the closure and only one group knew it was closed. They were local and said it had been closed most of the pandemic (they were just hiking for the exercise). Some of the reviews here seem to indicate it's been open within the last couple months. If you make the hike during the pandemic, I would suggest going without the expectation of the view since it seems hard to determine when it's open and closed. I reached the closed gate within about 45 minutes of the food stalls. The hike up is a great path of mostly steps but no views. I'd only suggest the hike if you want the exercise.

Best hike to really text your cardiac system! Amazing views. Lots of scenic trials!

It was an intense hike to the temple. As a person who seldom exercise it is a bit challenging but in the end it is worth it! The view is nice and the nature is enjoyable. It is a nice destination if you want some exercise in your trip.
