THE MAYAN BATHS

The setting is gorgeous, the people nice. But just be very aware that the actual thermal water area is underground and in a very tight space and they allow you to not wear masks—and the majority of guests in that small damp space weren’t wearing them. We left it immediately and complained and they said it’s not required. It is the least safe I’ve felt in over a year of Covid. So know what you’re getting into before going.

Although the baths were closed, we had heard of their beauty so we drove the 1-2 miles of bumpy cobblestone road to see what we could of it: Dinner, massage and enjoy the various thermal pools by candlelight. Beautifully-kept grounds indicated a beautiful interior. What a great concept! All signs along the way indicated reservations needed and most of the reviews were older which is puzzling. The groundskeeper said they are open only weekends and by reservation. While I would love to experience this, I would want an overnight stay rather than take that bumpy ride back at night. But I am intrigued.

The baths are wonderful and done with great taste with a dedicated well trained courteous staff. The water is not hot enough and there are not enough bathrooms or changing rooms. When they catch up to the demand with the amenities we will definitely be back. The view is stoic and the architecture of Mayan baths done with CLASS. KUDOS

Emailed and called many days in advance to make a reservation with no response. After reading reviews decided to try on saturday for their posted open to the public hours. Arrived at 30 min after opening and was told only those with reservations could go in. This place may be amazing but there doesnt appear to be a way to get in unless you are a local. The roads leading there are horrendous. Dont waste your time attempting to go.
