Ishielu is the gateway Local Government into Ebonyi State from the Enugu Abakaliki Highway. The Local Government shares boundary with Onicha, Ezza North and Ohaukwu in Ebonyi State in addition Enugu State. Some of the districts within the LGA includes Ezillo, Azunyaba, Nkalaha, Nkalagu, Iyonu, Ntezi, Okpoto, Agba, Ezzagu, Amazu, Ebeagu, Egge-Egde etc, This Council is rich in mineral resources the flagship being the famous Nkalagu Cement industries that is now moribund.
