As a Yoruba person, I can categorically tell you that our local dishes have the best tastes, they will always leave you craving more. Sometimes, I decide to leave continental, oriental, Indian food etc and go local, on this particular day, I decided to visit   ADUNNI'S KITCHEN; located at Almond Park and Garden, Utako Abuja, I wasn’t disappointed so I decided to do a review of her place. Like the name connote, Adunni means “having you is great joy, pleasure and satisfaction” this is how I felt when I had my amala, ewedu and orishirishi that day, the amala is served “fele” (soft and smooth) and hot, like it’s just turned fleshly on the fire. The soup is like iya festus or asake’s soup, proper yoruba omi obe (soup) like they serve it in the west. The turkey; big, soft and well marinated, the pomo; luscious, the beef soft and marinated, as I am writing this review, I want to go and have another meal at her place. They serve fresh palm wine which they bring daily, this is the first time and place I will have my amala with fresh palm wine, you need to try this out, you won’t be able to explain how you feel cos the combo will pleasure your senses. The interior is very spacious, neat with a local touch, the ceiling is covered with raffia mats and draped with different coloured and patterned Ankara. When you come into the restaurant, on the left is the palm wine corner/ stand, you can’t miss it. You can decide to go alone or in company of friends to have a meal, since it is in a decent park, it is family and kids friendly. They serve varieties of food like moi moi and tapioca (for breakfast pls), ewa-agoyin and garri ijebu, ofada and sauce etc. I go there basically for their Amala served with gbegiri and ewedu soup (ABULA); this combo leaves me very satisfied every single time. This spot is a good spot for reading because of the nature and green surrounding you with fresh air. If you are not careful, you will lose track of time because you will be engrossed in your book, you can even fall asleep sef. Their customer service is moderate compared to other local restaurants, they are courteous and warm. This restaurant is not your regular local restaurant it has some class to it and their meals are quite affordable and you'll get a meal for as low as N800. When I want to feel at home, this is my go to place, the serenity and serene always makes me relax and calm, I have never been disappointed. This kitchen comes highly recommended to everyone who loves African local dishes or would love to try it, you will not regret it.
