This is a Statue of Mary Slessor with twins at the Mary Slessor Avenue in Calabar. The avenue is one of the adjudication point of the Carnival Calabar, and in fact the first point of performance and also the Governor's spot of watching the event. Mary Slessor by way of history was a foreign missionary who stopped the killing of twins in Calabar. The twins she saved were born of the royal household of Calabar and later became the Duke and Henshaw families respectively. The Duke royal household predominantly occupy Calabar Municipal while the Henshaw family occupy Calabar South. The place of rescue of the twins is still in existence and it is the historic Twin Village which is a place for tourist attraction. This place can be reached from Marina Resort in Calabar. Visit Calabar and you will sure have a great time...
