Ime-obi Ogboza

Ime-Obi Ogboza is formerly the place of Obi of Onitsha, in the early 19th Century before the Palace was moved to the Ime- Obi Uzowaya along Awka road. Currently, the place serves a lot of purposes for the Onitsha indigines (and the general public). It is used to host a lot of events like seasonal inter village football tournament which starts around November of every year. It is a form of mini stadia where the former Obis'of Onitsha conduct their year Ofalla festival and other functions that will require mass turn-out. Adjacent to the Ime-Obi Ogboza, is a small communial market know as Ogbe-oye market, which in olden days operates only on the Oye market days,( in Igbo tradition, south- East Nigeria, there are four market days; Eke,Oye,Afor and Nkwo),but nowadays the Ogbe- Oye market operates every day. Vegetables, cat fish and some other food items can be seen in the market now. Directly opposite it by the North side, is a mini restaurants and bars where you can satisfy your self. Then, by south side is a very good car wash workshop with also a bar known as Sand sand bar,where you can relax yourself while your car is being washed. In conclusion, Ime-obi Ogboza is good place to go at the weekend to watch live football matches most times and have fun but not so good during the late hour for people that are not conversant with the area, i.e, strangers.
