A colonial era Catholic Church that has seen its hay days. Spots a historical architecture reminiscent of the time it represents. Used to be a deanery centre before the latest creation of the very many parishes and deaneries in Nsukka Diocese. Akụ has a socio-economic cum cultural as well as religious relevance in the whole of Igbo-Etiti and in the old Nsukka District. With her large population (second only to Enugu-Ezike within Enugu State)Akụ boasts of numerous academic, political, religious and economic giants spread throughout the world.
