A blow, a glass clink. We go to the neighbors, where they are doing odd jobs. No response, nothing to see. We still hear things fall and so ... Not long afterwards my wife sees a piece of glass on our garden terrace. Huh ... Upstairs on the second floor of our house in De Leyen, a pigeon tries to get away fluttering, as it were, stuck to the window. I open the sliding window and the beast flies at high speed into the meadow world. That there is nothing wrong with it? Mr Van Doorn informs me by telephone that a glass maker is working in the neighborhood and that he is sending it by. In the afternoon there is a big man at the door. I'm leading him. He looks at the situation, nods and says without emotion - we were very excited about it - "grab my stuff". I do not need help and for me a short time later there is a window that is freshly cut at the glass car (that is possible with single glass) in the frames. Mr. the glass maker does not need coffee, I do not have to sign a work order and we say goodbye without many words. I remain happily restrained and muttered in myself: "it still exists, that village, that trust, that" old-fashioned "customer-friendliness with excellent quality".
