The Flying Pig Beach Hostel Noordwijk

No breakfast, no checking out, no leadership, no sorry for extra costs, 16 euro’s a night is not really expensive for a shared room at 100 yards from the beach. So why did I expect it to be more than a camping side witg walls and a roof. First I had to wait before someone could find time for checking in. I had a top bed in a room for 4. No sheets (were brought later). Tiny shower with toilet, sink and no mirror. The bed was far from comfortable. The promised breakfast was served at 8. (price included) But due to the party (Arthurs Guinness) the night before, no staff member was awake to prepare breakfast. Door to bar was closed and no one responded on the assistance doorbell or my knocking . At 08.20 I went to work, without breakfast so I had to buy me one on the way. I could not check out so I had to take the key, without receiving the refund of 15 euros. At the end of my working day I had to travel another 40 miles to return the key and collect the refund. Pity, was the only word I heard. No comment on the extra costs I had to make. No promises about being called back with explanations or what so ever. I received my 15 euro’s and that was that. This is not a hotel with responsible staff members. They prefer hanging out with guests, using alcohol and weed and live to party instead of running a hotel.

Awesome hostel! The staff were super friendly and helpful! Great common areas to relax and a great central location for Noordwijk. It isn't very handicap accessible, but the rooms and facilities are clean and we'll maintained. Overall a great place to stay at a good price.

Fantastic place, I have been here multiple times in my 20's. Its worth a 2-3 day stay if you are looking for a break from the city.

What you need for a good hostel? Brings people together A cheap bar with live Musik. You have the feeling you are welcome. It's clean. A smokers room. Small events....

The hostel was one of my favourites for my 5 week travel through Europe. This was mainly due to the atmosphere of the hostel and the people that stayed there. The hostel is pretty cool and in a neat location in Noordwijk. It's a great place to get away for some time if you need to relax but also great for visiting Amsterdam due to the hostel's shuttle service. The town itself is also really beautiful and has a grocery store nearby for food that you can cook in the common hostel kitchen. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is due to the rooms (cold during the winter, bad bunk bed structure, no lockers for backpacks), and the staff (some were standoffish, unkind, others were excellent) Overall would definitely visit again if I was travelling through Amsterdam
