After the last owner of the Beerschoten country estate died, the site was taken over by the municipality of Driebergen. According to a bequest, the municipality was obliged to demolish the manor and to maintain the park and the deer park opposite as a public walking area. In memory of Mr. Willink and to liven up the park, architect C.B. Posthumus Meyjes was commissioned to design a temple to be built on the site of the manor. In 1889, the Temple was built on this site, now a park next to the new train station of Driebergen and Zeist.
