Authentic Turkish food. As we travel on a limited budget, we look for places that offer buffets at reasonable prices. This is difficult to find in cities such a Amsterdam. Restaurant Mesken was the only place we located. It was necessary for us to take the tram into the Turkish quarter and then walk a short distance. The visit to the quarter was in itself a pleasant experience, giving us another view of the multiple societies within the European Communities. All of the other guests of the restaurant while we were there appeared to be locals of Turkish descent, so we determined that the food must be authentic to the community. I rated the restaurant less than 5 stars because the buffet was scant, compared to the usual offerings. The food was not especially to our liking, but that was our problem not theirs. It seemed to be entirely vegetarian or at least vegetation. Weekday appeared to be sauteed meats were most likely tofu or its equivalent. The highlight of the buffet was a soup, similar in appearance to tomato bisque, with a minty taste upon first spoonful, graduating into a combination of vegetable flavors that were distinct and flavorful.

The staff is good. The food on the buffet on the other hand is mostly cheap. You don't have a big choice of food and there are no free drinks. Also you have only 2 desserts to choose form. So for the price of €16 it's not really worth.

Very kind service. Great food for nice prices. Also the buffet was nice, with a lot of options.

Best shoarma in Amsterdam. It’s a bit more expensive but the quality and quantity is very good. The ambiance is also nice and the are of the Indische buurt is nice to walk around or visit the Dappermarkt.

It's okay.. Food: food wise it is good, good taste. No problems there. Open buffet: don't expect too much, not like other open buffet. The amount of choice of food/food they offer in open buffet is really minimal. Wish they had more choices for open buffet. I'm sure the Turkish kitchen has much more to offer. Tips from a customer: for this price per person, include the drinks please looking at the choice of food. And a tip for kids: please include the ice cream in the open buffet.. Personnel: they are quite friendly. I don't know what other people are yapping about.
