The former Factorium garden has been renamed the Freedom Park. The municipality was looking for a suitable, central place for the commemoration of the dead to take place quietly. The Freedom Park is within walking distance of the City Hall and the Heikense Church and has little noise. The park still looks pretty messy, however, because the sparse greenery and the modern residential apartments do not match the serene atmosphere that you would expect at a memorial site. The space is decorated with a few monuments - Monument 15th Scottish Division (in memory of the Allied in 2nd World War) - Memorial Royal Dutch Brigade Princess Irene (Dutch Resistance 2nd World War) - The Indies monument (in memory of the killed Tilburg soldiers in the former Dutch East Indies) - The Zwerfkei (in memory of the victims of the 2nd World War) These monuments used to be spread over the city center of Tilburg, but are now central to the Freedom Park. A good aim, but whether the Factorium garden is the ideal place for the park, I doubt.
