Kelpen-Oler belonged to the parishes of Grathem and Ell, from which the churches were a considerable distance away. When the population increased, people wanted their own church. In 1933 preparations began for a rectorate, and since 1933 was a centenary of Liduina van Schiedam (1380-1433), the church to be built was dedicated to this saint. Construction began in 1935 and the church was consecrated in early 1936. The church was designed by Jos Cuypers and Pierre Cuypers jr. In 1940 the rectorate was elevated to a parish.
By October 1944 the church was in the British-American line of fire and sustained significant damage, which was repaired in 1946. A lot of church furniture has been lost due to damage or theft. In the same year a new pulpit and communion rail were made for the church.
Since I grew up in this village we had to go to this church on Sunday .. Now I only come there on special occasions (such as All Souls Day) to visit the adjacent cemetery where our parents rest.
