Absolutely Delightful! We were longing for a lovely evening in a quiet romantic restaurant. I have looked wide and included Amsterdam, Almere, Bussum and other places nearby. Studying menus turned out mostly to be an unpleasant sensation. “Smoked kumquat on a bed of topinambur”?! Pretence and crazy combination of food made me tired. I was looking for a menu that was made of “normal” dishes. Honed by a tradition and perhaps influenced a little by a good chef. When I looked at Gasterij van Bussum’s menu I knew I found what I was looking for. Indeed the whole evening was wonderful! Very nice service - helpful but not imposing. Pleasant wine card. Everything we ordered varied from very good to wonderful! My husband ate his steak with roquefort sauce making sounds that made me jealous.My onion soup was one of the best I have ever had - beefy, nuty and rich. Geitenkaas cheesecake was a welcome innovation. Witlof was not bitter at all, just creamy and cheesy. We couldn’t manage desserts. We are hoping to rectify that mistake as soon as possible.
