Camping de Barkhoorn

Spent a wonderful week at the Barkhoorn. Wonderful chalet in a beautiful place. Chalet was clean and well-maintained. Owners and staff were attentive to our needs. Restaurant was great. Dinner was hot and delicious and reasonably priced. Looking forward to our next stay.

Friendly campsite hospitable owners. The places are spacious toilet building for ladies was clean gentlemen was not so clean, the wells of the showers were not always clean. There was toilet paper on time so you wouldn't run out. Disabled sanitary facilities were clean. The threshold was difficult for wheelchair. Truck with diesel and all other traffic with exhaust fumes often pass the tent when you sit along the path, which was not nice. Furthermore, had a great holiday.

Different experience here. Yesterday we visited friends who had their first caravan experience and enthusiastically told about it. Because of the enthusiasm walked to their place where the coffee was already ready. An angry gentleman came running on a golf cart and gave an unfriendly tone why we had not reported to the reception. "Completely forgotten sir, sorry". This was really the case. We do not deliberately walk with a group of folding chairs in hand and talking tightly and loudly laughing past the reception, where the owner and crue were chatting on the terrace. They decided not to speak to us directly but to send someone but someone. No problem of course, but the way this happened went wrong. The bad tone continues: We all had to report to the reception IMMEDIATELY. And visitors' dogs were not allowed. I said sorry sir, we will go directly to reception. Once there we were reprimanded and had no ear for our excuse. All of this made us very irritated and when I showed my irritation we were able to make a choice: Be quiet or leave. We really hadn't seen the sign before signing up and really walked by it. Stupid of course, I admit immediately, but there was no intention. In the end, we remained silent and were allowed to enter the site after payment of just under € 15. It is a pity that it turned out this way, but I am sure that if we had been addressed in a normal way, there would have been no / little irritation. So super friendly owners ??? I think that could be a little better, as well as: The amount of sand at various playground equipment, a lot of plant growth on the beach, sanitary facilities and the very outdated playground equipment. A nice campsite in itself, but maintenance is very necessary, both in the campsite and in the staff.
