A good place to take a walk

THE HAGUE - The Kijkduin shopping center goes down in October to make way for new construction. Until that time, artists have free rein. The walls are already decorated with graffiti and the vacant stores are taken over by studios or galleries. The artists have received carte blanche from owner FRED Developers to brighten everything up with colorful graffiti, with the exception of the shops that are still in use. "Everything else: the roofs, the floors, the windows, everything that is empty can be under-painted," says Ringo Mollinger of The Hague Street Art. "The plan is that there will be no more white space here at the end of September," says Miranda Lantink, the creator of Street Art City. "It is actually a temporary street art museum." Temporary, because in October the art, together with the shopping center, will be razed to the ground.
