Small museum with various objects related to local history visible inside. The building is characteristic for the town of Bergen even on the outside, as it is located in the roundabout behind the Ruinekerk which also continues towards some characteristic bars with dehors, including De Pilaren, a bookshop and the building of the former town hall ( Raadhuis). It seems that my maternal grandmother lived there as a child for a certain period, of course long before it was destined to become a museum.

The Sterkenhuis offers insight into the history of the last 500 years of Bergen, up to and including the 2nd World War. Information about Belgian refugees in the First World War, the ruined church, cultural history, much can be found here. A great place to spend an hour. It is not big.
