it's easy to access when the canal has frozen

The Blokweer museum mill at Kinderdijk (a UNESCO world heritage site) dates back to 1630 and hence is more than a century older than the other mills at Kinderdijk which were built between 1738 and 1740 as one big project. It is also a different kind of mill, wipmolen in Dutch, but still has a small residence inside the static bottom part. It is now a very well kept museum, very busy in normal (non-Corona) times. The miller is very friendly and helpful!

Wonderful place to visit and to be able to wander up to and into some windmills and to see the restoration project in progress. Great opportunity to witness life in a windmill and especially when the sails are turning. The new heritage centre looks superb so hope to return whrn this is complete. Definitely a place I highly recommend.
