Who likes restaurants with * from the Michelin Guide, is right here. D'Arret restaurant has no stars, but an excellent Chef. His creations are fantastic, the taste exceptional. He could compete at any time with the Chefs of Star restaurants. Remarkable also the kindness of the service staff. Passionate by their job, proud to work in this restaurant, they do everything possible to make you enjoying your stay and meal. The location is very nice, the furniture chosen with taste. The continental breakfast buffet has everything what you expect. Don't miss this restaurant when being in Alkmaar or surroundings.

Great food, great service and great attitude !

What a special evening we had. The nice weather also played a role. What a beautiful ambiance. Delicious dishes, and good taste. The wines were also fine. The operation was twofold. Two toppers stood head and shoulders above the rest. Very knowledgeable in the field of wines and food. We will definitely be back, if there is a new (autumn) menu. RECOMMENDED!

The first reviews must certainly have been posted by staff, because in practice this is just bad. There is only 1 menu with 3 courses. Therefore, all photos of dishes here and on facebook are the same, there is no more! Then you expect that the kitchen brigade can now make these dishes perfect. We were guests tonight, but dozens of other people. It was all too full and the other people, including us, had to sit outside. This was still pleasant at 17:30 at the beginning, but dessert came at 20:00 and we were not dressed to sit outside. Just accepted way too many reservations! The swordfish entree was still ok and included a nice mix with some vegetables and sushi rice. The main course, duck with 1 asparagus, 1 carrot and some onion was less refined. The duck was not the best meat. Only side was a (quite pricey) cup of chips which was just bad. All small pieces of self-cut potato, which resulted in more crust than chips. There was also a lot! coarse salt sprinkled over it. Fortunately, we could delete a lot. The staff was very friendly, did their best to make no difference in the chaos of too many people and carona. Even got a new bowl of fries, saw the dramatic execution. Unfortunately almost the same result. In short, there really has to be a menu so that you can order something of your own preference. This was almost soup kitchen stuff, and since this restaurant was in an old prison, the food matched the ambiance ...
