ISRIC — World Soil Information

This is Mecca for anyone interested in the soils of the world and their geographic distribution, properties, use, and importance to civilization and the natural world. Of the 1000 or so soil monoliths in ISRIC's collection about 100 are displayed at any one time, forming a spectacular panorama of colours and textures. All the stored monoliths can be found in the virtual museum online. Each monolith is explained in context, with the overall theme of "soil forming factors" (climate, topography, organisms including humans, parent material, and time). ISRIC staff and volunteers give tours in English and Dutch (and many other languages according to staff experience) by appointment.

I met three helpful staffs who will guide us during visit; as student we can get free access to explore the facilities (only on Wed @1.30pm) | the place is not that big, just like classroom hall; one of the staff fluently speak in bahasa indonesia
