The food and the wine selection was amazing. Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Definitely a hidden gem in Wijk bij Duurstede.
The chef's an artist. Exceptional (but not "difficult") combinations, excellent structure. Five stars for the starters, first course, and main course, three for desserts (my wife's was a 4, mine a 2). 75 euros per person buys you a champagne aperitif, three courses and a few glasses of well-chosen wine.

The monastery is staffed by a young team with great ambitions. It is not easy to get rid of this, that may be clear. The kitchen is fully committed to providing the customer with a taste experience that he has not been allowed to experience before. With our party of 4 people, we opted for a six-course menu with a matching wine arrangement. Culinary art was on the plates every course. Together with the wine, this led at times to an almost transcendental taste experience, the term 'wine-food' does not have to be explained to the team at 't Klooster, it is mastered to the utmost finesse. What we particularly enjoyed was the enthusiasm of the young sommelier / host, who did not hide his love for his profession. Naturally, this refinement also has its price, but for an evening-filling experience that we received, we found the price perfectly balanced. You go to these kinds of restaurants for a bit of experience, you have to make time for that and give something for it. We therefore heartily recommend 't Klooster, for the Randstad residents a wonderful excuse to explore this beautiful part of the Netherlands!
