What (almost) no one knows is that our mother (who unfortunately died prematurely 11 years ago today) started working here more than 35 years ago (I was still living at home). She has written entire correspondences with children who shared their wishes and problems with the gnomes. Every time that some gnomes were "moved to a playroom" my mother made new wooden figures that my father faithfully sawed out and she painted again. Fantastic to see that the tree is still inhabited :-)
