The Field of Honor in Loenen early Sunday morning. Nobody present. In silence we walk past all the graves. The realization that so many people died in a war too young is impressive. Also a number of graves of unknown Dutch people. Sometimes it is still found out who is lying there, which is a comforting thought that people put so much effort into this. The new section is also very beautiful. Very different, but therefore an addition. Definitely worth a visit.

A history that we should not forget. Not just World War II, but all those we were involved in for world peace that cost lives. Impressive and what a rest. And now there is also the National Veterans Cemetery. Can be reached via National Field of Honor Loenen, but also via your own entrance. The commemoration and education center provides a sober picture of victims of the Second World War and their deployment in missions.

Perfect setting for a nice walk. Tip: leave early, around 07:00, who knows, you might spot some deer
