Dark and dated facilities

First of all, we call to ask if there is a spot available on the campsite (September 2020). A lady indicates that it would be very busy, she says: “only the owner knows if there is space and is currently busy”. We are requested to send an e-mail with our request, not very practical if you are at another nature camping site without internet coverage. Finally received a response that same day, there is room and we are welcome for a few nights. The first thing that strikes you upon arrival is that only 20% of the camping pitches are occupied, very strange because it was said by phone yesterday that it would be very busy and there were doubts about a free spot ... It was not a warm and hospitable reception. The owner came across as a strict scouting scoutmaster or akela, who mainly tells what is not allowed and what penalties are there for violations. I was still afraid that we had to hand in our sweets, luckily it did not get that far. Now you read in many comments “wonderfully quiet camping”, but at the beginning of September 2020 that was not the case. At a distance of 5 km is one of the largest military training grounds in the Netherlands, deep dull bangs, as if we had put down the camper van on the Gaza Strip. Really, the sanitary building was sometimes shaking. No whistling birds, rustling mice and squirrels, but thumping Leopard battle tanks and whizzing 120mm mortars every day. If you want to flee the war zone for a while and get groceries in the nearby village, you will be told that it is not the intention to leave the campsite in the meantime with your camper van. Furthermore, the reception is closed tight (you cannot look in and the door is locked) so you have to knock and wait outside, not very welcoming. In addition, money is charged for everything. So prepare for "The Future", bring your helmet, bulletproof vest, earplugs, well-stocked wallet and enough ration!

We did not like the way we were received or registered as one of the nicest, I did not know what happened to me when I wanted to open the door of the reception, that is no way to welcome your guests. Afterwards it was not too bad and the manager was friendly. For the rest, it is a great and very quiet camping area.

Beautiful grounds, lots of greenery and spacious plots. Despite the fact that it was apparently quite busy (as was indicated), you do not get that impression. Normally also very quiet. Beautiful surroundings, excellent sanitary facilities. Sufficient account is taken of Corona measures.
