Found our deafblind cat online, then send an email to them. They got back to me within 24 hours, and I visited the next day. With public transport, it's a little challenging to reach, but not undoable. Much easier by car though. The shelter itself is spacious, clean, and the staff is knowledgeable. They will ask you questions to make sure it's a good match with the animal you like, and they will happily show you around.

Looked today for a cat at this animal shelter. Upon arrival, the lady who would take us to the cat told us that she had just read our mail. The appointment and the preliminary meeting to come and have a look was made with another employee. We had put in a lot of work to explain our home situation as well as possible, so this was very unfortunate. We are students and have experience with cats. Not a typical student house, but just young adults who live together with a homely atmosphere. We had come up with a good plan in advance and submitted it in the email. The cat itself was very sweet and we immediately felt a click. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take it with us, because we would not offer sufficient stability and this was not a match with us. The shelter could have known this in advance based on the e-mail. We had to come from Amsterdam and have been on the road for a total of 4 hours, because we do not have a car at the door. Not to mention the service of this shelter. We understand that a cat is not just given away. We felt that we were a suitable match for the cat, but based on the 'gut feeling' of the employee who helped us, we were not allowed to adopt the cat. This therefore did not correspond to the feeling we had received as a result of the telephone conversation with the other employee. This could simply have been communicated to us in advance to save us the time and effort.
