Vrouwekerk

Remains of a church whose construction dates back to the 14th century. In the 17th century, it was used by French-speaking Protestant refugees from Leiden. This church also served as a place of worship for part of the Pilgrim Fathers during their stay in Leiden and before embarking on the New World. In this church were notably buried Charles de L'Ecluse, famous botanist who introduced the tulip in Holland and Joseph Juste Scaliger, one of the greatest French scholars of the time.
