Overall the place is very neat. We stayed in a mini "apartment" where the hallway is shared with other people. They offer a variety of board games wich was nice and we had a brownie in the room for each of us, it was delicious. We couldn't enjoy the surroundings as much due to the weather. But I have a couple of reasons to give this place 3 stars. The first is that at the moment of reservation, it shows the activities available - canoeing, biking etc. - and wich ones you have to pay extra, but they don't have them all available. I saw some bikes wich i think is to rent, but in the website (edreams) it says no additional cost, but at the place you have a price table. And the canoeing is actually not available and the owners didn't have any direct contact with the place to rent. Being the first time in the city, we had to search for it and we drove to an area were there were multiple options. Still, it advertises as having this activitie, but they don't.
The second, is the check out time - 10h30. This is a little to early in my opinion. This time wouldn't be as much of a problem if it wasn't for the 3rd reason. They actually ask you to clean all the dishes you use in the kitchen. So, coffe mugs, tea mugs, plates, cutlery, etc.
Since we stayed for a day and it was bad weather, we decided to make a little microwave dinner (doesn't have stove) and enjoy our evening inside. Being that we drove 2h to get there and we still walked around in the city, after a little bit of wine and some games in the evening we fell asleep very quickly. Waking up at 9h to have breackfast relaxedly, shower, pack our stuff, clean the games and leave things in place it was really annoying to see that they actually ask you to clean and dry the dishes you used. For me it made no sense and created unecessary stress with having to leave at 10h30.
Also, the pitures were from houses in the area, i could only find one blurry picture that was actually from the place we stayed
Well, this is my conclusion. Maybe I'm being to picky, but I rarely have vacation, and when i do i like to relax of course, not do house shores and be stressed with time
I think there's some space for improvement but, like i sayed, overall is a nice place to stay, just be aware of these conditions.
Have a nice day to who's reading this, and stay safe!
Very pleasant stay during our visit to Giethoorn! The room is large and clean. Bathroom is perfect with larger bathtub. The host Peter and his wife are very kind and made us delicious breakfast. Highly recommended!
Absolutely amazing time. Loved it and would definitely come again. Lovely hosts that made you feel at home and special.
We stayed here for one night and it was fantastic. We were treated to great conversation and affectionate company from Cooper the dog. The breakfast was fantastic. We were driven to the train station free of charge. A magical ending to a week of traveling.
There was ice and then you want to skate. What could be more wonderful than from the backyard, on a jetty (with cushion) of your B&B, to tie your skates under and step onto the ice to enjoy a beautiful trip. We went through the reeds, through beautiful landscape to the Bovenwijde, through Giethoorn - to admire the bridges from the ice - to the canal, up the Beulakkerwijde and enjoyed! After the skating trip, no searching through a practical signpost with Tulden Farmhouse on it which indicated the correct ditch. Tired and satisfied we came off the ice and moved into the beautiful, practically and cosily furnished Kingfisher Room. Then it is great that you can also get a tasty meal for an acceptable amount. Super place and a very nice B&B.
