Excellent organized party, with an open-air museum on Saturdays showing all the crafts from around 100 years ago. Do you want to know what rural life looked like at the time, then this is definitely recommended. Very suitable for children and the authentic procession is definitely worth it.

Flaeijelfeest has been a lot of fun traditionally and the generations can see how things used to be like this. It is a pity that you do not just need cash or pins, but coins for consumptions that you have to use on the same day. But that's the only tricky thing. Outside it is a fun event that should go on! Stupid municipality of Heerenveen wants the party elsewhere on a lawn. Already 43 years of location, a bastard thinks it has to be moved. I understood that the field is smaller, more and more people are coming, but the reason for this was traffic! Now is the traffic moving elsewhere?

The Flaeijelfeest is a super beautiful annual party for young and old. A procession that you will not see anywhere else, where the life of the past passes you by. Your eyes will fall short at the party grounds, there is so much to see. The party lasts 4 days and is worth the effort to pay a visit to Oude and Nieuwehorne.
