An oasis of peace on the outskirts of the city. Cozy restaurant, super friendly service (volunteers!), Tasty dishes, affordable prices and a spacious and clean toilet.

The Roman Catholic Cemetery Buitenveldert is a cemetery in Amsterdam South and has been part of the Augustinus parish of Buitenveldert since 1836. According to the traditional rules of the Roman Catholic Church, only baptized Catholics / Christians were allowed to be buried in consecrated earth, the ground that was ritually designated as a Catholic burial place. Unbaptized children and people who had committed suicide were excluded. That is why Catholic cemeteries like this one used to have unconsecrated land for the Catholic children who had not yet died. In 2003, therefore, a memorial was set up for the unbaptized children who were buried here - sometimes anonymously - in the Kinderhof, with the text: neither word nor image / can express / which leaves an emptiness / this behind. For this an artwork Angel with child (2004) was made by the sculptor Antoinette Otten. The cemetery looks well maintained and radiates a stately and impressive tranquility.

Nice uncluttered cemetery. Also nice that there are neat and clean toilets

It is beautiful here.

This is a dignified place of last rest with a very well-kept complex and tombs under shade trees. The death hall and the adjoining rooms give the wedding ceremony the opportunity to say goodbye to the deceased in an appropriate manner. There is also a café where you can even sit outside and a flower shop.
