The sound system brings the bar super high. Truly amazing. I would recommend renovating the look of the room though...feels a bit too much like a dungeon and it would be nicer if it’d be a little bit more cozy.

I was there on a Saturday night - few and not very pleasant people, subdued atmosphere. Bar is friendly and capable, but it lacks the atmosphere of a downtown bar and seems a bit out of place in a hotel catering for Backpack-tourists mostly.

Cool spot to hang out with locals. The Volkshotel has options for everyone - coffee shop/lounge, night club and Doka, the underground bar. We went for a storytelling event and enjoyed it. If we were looking for an after-hours spot the next time in Amsterdam, Doka would certainly be on that list, even though it's a bit far out from the city centrum.
