Danny Hands Schilder

I contracted Danny and his team to paint our apartment and do all the woodwork after a long and fairly high spec renovation. TL;DR: you get what you pay for. Danny was very friendly throughout the process, but is not the fastest communicator. Additionally, the language barrier (my Dutch is terrible) added a layer of occasional unclarity. His quote came in at 1/4 of the highest quite (which was stupidly expensive) and still about 2.000€ below the other quotes. Being at the end of a lengthy renovation, we went with Danny and his team. The ensuing process was everything but smooth. His team cut corners in the prep work (knowingly or unknowingly) which started to show in the final result. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is poor and when we happened to be around the house we occasionally had to point out hasty mistakes or sloppy finishing in corners and around ceiling spotlights. The pace at which his team was moving was excruciatingly slow and my contractor overseeing the other parts of the building works pointed out some rather unusual methods when sanding and painting: leaning freshly painted doors to dry against a freshly painted wall; painting over locks; painting over newly installed ceiling spots; just to name a few. So after finishing, Danny and his team had to come back a few times to correct mistakes - and even then we had to tell them how to do it properly (like using the right hue of white...) The biggest annoyance, bringing it back to the start, is the poor prep work that now shows in long cracks along the corners between walls and ceilings. Long story short: with Danny and his team you get what you pay for. The quality matches the price. So if you have a small budget and equally small expectations...he might be your guy.

I had to have my apartment decorated but also had to go away to London at the time. I gave Danny instructions with my requirements and gave him my key. In my absence he and his team went in and did the job to perfection. I am super happy with the results, my place looks like a new apartment. I took a leap of faith handing my keys to a stranger, any doubts I had were proved to be completely unfounded. Danny is 100% trustworthy and the work delivered has been flawless. If you looking for a painter/decorator in Amsterdam then Danny is your man. Very highly recommended.

We opted for this company in the first instance, because the quotation was within our budget and the other quotations were a lot higher. My first contact with Danny was positive, a calm, friendly, neat man, who thought about all the work that had to be done. We agreed on a fixed price and that was nice. No surprises afterwards about additional work. We had all the exterior paintwork done on the entire property. Wood rot was treated, some parts were completely replaced. This company employs a plasterer, a carpenter, and a whole team of painters. What first struck us was the thoroughness with which they worked. We also loved the precision with which everything was finished. The painters were all very friendly and polite, they worked really hard, even during the super hot days. We are all very satisfied and can certainly recommend this company! Everything is neatly painted again, the plasterwork is beautiful, even the crumbled cement under the window frame has been filled in again. What was also a plus was that no parking fee was charged. The only downside maybe for others (it didn't matter to us), is that it took a little longer than estimated in advance. (3 weeks instead of 2). But I'd rather they do a good job than let things get rushed. We will certainly use the services of Danny Hands Schilder again in the future!

It's not just the No / No stickers. Their paintwork is also extremely lousy. Moisture barrier where it should have been moisture permeable, use the cheapest paint possible, huge delay, etc. Don't!

Although I clearly have a NO / NO sticker on my letterbox, I still received unwanted advertising. Apparently any decency is hard to find at this company.
