The Green Elephant Hostels

I would give this hostel a 5 star rating because it's a good place to spend a few nights. But there were a few things that made our stay weird: 1- We booked a bunk bed pod (with a welcome drink which we never got) but we're given a double bed on the 3rd floor. We had to go all the way down with our bags (no elevator working at the moment) to get a different room. 2- the building, though it has a nice atmosphere, it's a bit of a labyrinth; we were not given many directions of how to go around the place to find our room or the guest kitchen, or the sauna. We were not the only ones: we found a few other guests walking around lost, asking US for directions or trying to open the wrong doors. 3- When we wanted to check out, we found out we still had to pay for some bathrobes that had just been given to us without warning they were not free; we had to complain and were only charged 50% 4- We asked about breakfast during check-in, and were told that everything on the hotel was vegan. By then we just did not trust what they said, so we double checked online to see some pictures just to find there were eggs, cheese and yoghurt. And we confirmed that in the morning. There were, however positive aspects as well: 1- there is a free luggage room to leave your bags if you arrive too early or need some time after check out. 2- the place is clean, well decorated, pods are cozy and mattresses comfortable. 3- extra points for the spa, which is free (just take your own bathrobes or ask if you have to pay). In spite of all that, I would recommend the place and would stay there again (now that I know better). I wish they improved the communication with guests.

A very cozy place in a nice city. Everything is designed to make your stay peaceful and comfortable, from the interior to the music. There is a free spa with basic things (sauna, hammam, foot bath). The location is also perfect, 5 minute walk from Maastricht Station. Recommended!

A perfect lodging with all customised amenities on need basis. Amazing hospitality and friendly people around to interact. I really appreciate the owners and staff for their friendly approach towards their customers, Thank you!!

Great atmosphere. Very nice staff and a special thanks to Floris who found my passport and sent it back. Clean and good separated beds. Nice common room and garden area. Free sauna (although renting the bath robes feels like a cheap way to make extra money, since everybody takes it off in tha spa area and nobody wears it). Around 15 to 20 minutes walking distance to the center.

The Green Elephant Hostels is truly green, but not in a pedantic way. It's a concept where GEH believes in, and that's a beautiful 'why'. From the food and beverages served, to preventing plastic abuse, the nice offering from vintage & re-used clothing from "dotnsquare vintage'', it's all consistent, what we like as a family and the right direction for a new world. Apart from this all the hotel has an awesome design and great facilities. We had a wonderful 3 days exploration of the most burgundian city in the NL (as far south as Brussels, that might help here) and decided to make this an annual trip. Very nice and friendly staff, keep up the good work Green Elephant!
