Ever heard about the three musketeers? A lovely French fairytale. D'Artagnan was one of them and suposedly died 25th of june 1673 in Maastricht. The flamboyant looking statue evokes powerful, romanticised images of a heroic D'Artagnan with a flowing gesture of grabbing his sabre, ready to protect his French king. It has the famous quote: "all for one and one for all" written in French. The statue was placed in 2003 by the mayor of the city.

Meaningful - from the fairy tales to a great monument. Nearby the city center with a lot of green area. Go for contemplate and relax.

Fitting tribute to the inspiration for the 4th muskahound, next to the city walls that he fell trying to storm. Statue has all the bits you'd expect for a fighting man of this era - big hat, floppy boots, cloak etc, though younger looking than the real d'Artagnan was when he died. Couple of seats available so you can sit and contemplate a time when the working day required a chap to run through holes in walls while other chaps fired musket balls at them.
