De Balloohoeve is a nice country store in the scenic Drenthe village of Balloo. They are the venue of the big annual Christmas market held about mid December. They also have outdoor seating for coffee, tea, icecream and other refreshments. Their specialty is sculptures carved out of tree trunks by chain saws. Quite impressive but also noisy if you see it happening!

A very nice simple campsite without fixed places. The sanitary facilities are new and perfectly adequate, neat showers and everything clean. The campsite also has an organic shop with the best meat I have eaten in years. Actually I eat very little meat, only when I can be sure that it is completely organic. Not only camping guests but also customers from the area come to the shop. So it is very good, if I lived in the area I would become a regular here. The owner is also very pleasant to deal with, I think the campsite is highly recommended. You should also visit it! I certainly hope to visit this again.

Small shop with tasty stuff from the farm. Nice coffee with biscuits. Recommended!
