More of these places should exist in The Netherlands! This garden allows for visitors and children to understand nature and to appreciate it. You can enter the garden wherever the gates are open, and pluck whatever is ripe from the garden to take home. It doesn't take up a lot of space, but there is a certain tranquility about the garden. It really makes you connect with nature and the people who maintain it are super friendly. We saw rhubarb, raspberries, courgettes, aubergines, tomatoes, grapes and sunflowers.

More or less in the Maasboulevard park there is an educational neighborhood garden also called Maasboulevard. It is the Maasboulevard of Schiedam, not to be confused with Rotterdam's neighbor. The Park is an oasis of peace, but so is the neighborhood garden. Many people like to walk in the park and garden or eat their sandwiches in the afternoon. In the neighborhood garden, pupils from schools in the neighborhood can receive nature education. In addition, the garden will be a place where local residents can (vegetable) garden, develop activities or simply enjoy the flower garden or the food forest that is yet to be set up. Gardening and maintenance will be based on permaculture. Part of the proceeds from the garden will be brought by the students to the food bank or nursing home as part of the curriculum and used at school. The rest goes to the volunteers who help. Permaculture is a form of organic gardening that tries to work with nature as much as possible. In addition, there are three ethical principles in permaculture: Care for the earth, Care for the people, Share the abundance. These three ethical principles will therefore form the basis for working in the garden in the educational neighborhood garden. If you have not been there yet, go and have a look, please note the opening times. Not that it has a lot to do with nature and culture, but if you get hungry then there is also a restaurant of the De Beren chain in the park.
