I wanted to go into the store today and was told they are no longer allowed to sell food, drinks and tobacco products. During the Corona period I have always felt safer there than in a supermarket. The owner has been wearing a face mask constantly from the start of the outbreak and customers gave each other plenty of space. Very different from most supermarkets where you regularly feel a fellow customer panting in your neck. I personally think it is absurd that things like these are forbidden to sell food, drink and tobacco products, when they have been doing this for quite some time and I think they derive most of their sales. We are only allowed to fill the large supermarket groups at this time and, due to a lack of competition, they have almost a monopoly on the sale of items that may no longer be sold in other stores and now even entrepreneurs who have foodstuffs in their range are being thwarted. . I do wonder whether the municipality of Maassluis is interpreting the rules correctly in this matter. A gas station is often also a small grocer and can still sell these things.
