When discovering the work of Marcel van Hoef, I was reminded of a statement by Max Pam (Volkskrant 30-08-2017): “Just give me an empty landscape and I'm on my way”. Without directly agreeing to this, I can put myself in his mind, where it concerns pure unspoiled places where the Homo Sapiens has not yet left its polluting traces. In stark contrast to genres such as the magical realistic work of Theo Vooraat, which is characterized by the beauty of decay, Marcel van Hoef is precisely the serene tranquility that overwhelms you when you experience his paintings. These challenge you, to fathom the mystique of certain gaps, from which such an immense desire speaks, and to fill it in yourself. Getting into a Sibylline rapture can happen just like that! We read a striking description from Emily Ansenk - Dir. Kunsthal Rotterdam - about the "standing still of the time in which reality seems to pass over illusionism and the special experience of losing yourself as a spectator in his work" Isn't this the ultimate effect that art can have? To this can only be added that it is a privilege and enrichment for us to be able to experience its temptation daily.

Awesome. Use your own house as an exhibition space!

Beautiful, high-quality work. I was allowed to view it during his Exposition at the ECI. The work consisted of inspiring futoristic architecture images.
