Nice landscape art temple

It is a special monument that evokes memories of raising the dikes as part of the completion of the Delta Works. The height to the bottom of the roof is old dike height. The renewed embankment is raised from the bottom of the dike height to the top of the roof point.

A green roof may have been a deliberate decision by the architect Ids Willemsma when designing 'the temple' on the occasion of the completion of the dyke improvement operation in the period 1980-1993. The then commissioner was laid in stone here, together with all kinds of dike commissioners and of course the dike count. The sharp lines of this temple are at odds with the sloping nature of the Wadden Sea dike. A good choice! Why 10 pillars anyway? I would not know. Perhaps there used to be 10 Frisian water boards?
