A visit to this place should be part of the Dutch curriculum to instill respect in the pupils. We were impressed by the acts that took place here and the led so many to their death. This cannot happen again.
Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork is a serene and humble memorial for what happened in world war II. So we will not forget and hopefully learn from the past. The memorial shows the train carriages the people were transported in and the barracks they lived in. The old railroad tracks, ending into nothing symbolically show the one-way journey the Jewish people had to follow. Adjacent a field with thousands of little pillars, each topped with a star, represent the loss of each individual life. Visiting this memorial turns one humble and silent....
Make sure to pack good shoes, it's a 7km walk
Very impressive! This is a must see for everyone.. A place where people should watch what could happen to the world. Remember, never again!
Impressive, but very serene. I didn't like the museum, but the surrounding area is beautiful. Be prepared to walk!
