Really a relief to meet the people behind Applied Art who drive three times with a stationary Bruno Ninaber neckwatch up and down to Delft, where Studio Ninaber is located. Purely because they feel responsible as a dealer to get this beautiful clock (which was purchased elsewhere) ticking again. "It's nothing" they say themselves. Which immediately sets the tone for a series of fun and interesting conversations with Jaap van Santen and his father. When it comes to that, senior in old age still runs the shop with enthusiasm as 50 years ago, offers you coffee and fetches it for you at the neighbor's café Parisien. All the attention and time for a customer who comes for a new battery in a clock. But also visible for the composition of the design and art collection in the store, which has its own character and you will not easily find it elsewhere. Not a shop with its own shiny espresso machine, but an interior consultancy with a special shop. The appeal of Applied Art is that for almost 100 years now, three generations have been lovingly working on a very own vision and this is further developed and deepened in a natural way. This individuality stimulates and gives all the space to let the inspiration come to the surface for me as a customer. Nothing of hip uniformity here, as the landscape of interior design, design and art shows itself in many other places, but rather an exceptionally well-kept secret. And what started with a battery turned out to be a special meeting that was supplemented with two beautiful lamps. There was nothing wrong with the battery. Studio Ninaber eventually completely replaced the timepiece. Free. It was beyond their honor.

From 1965 we (accidentally) got acquainted with it and bought our first furniture. We regularly walked past the shop window, which always caught our attention. We liked the style, which suited us as young, modern people. We were at the beginning to decorate our house and so knew nothing yet. Our taste was formed by what we saw in the shop window at "Applied Art". We received good, expert information and learned a lot. It was therefore always a pleasure to find something out, to purchase. The furnishing of our flat and later the renovation and furnishing of our own home was a celebration, because our wishes were listened to in such a pleasant and customer-friendly manner. "Applied Art" is a beautiful family business with expert knowledge!

We had a Gelderlander sofa (Jan des Bouvrie) for a few years now, small and stylish, but the upholstery was gone. At Applied Art we found a wide range of beautiful fabrics and good advice. Our sofa has been professionally reupholstered and is completely 'sleek' with its new upholstery in our house. It can last for years to come.
