Not a Michelin starred restaurant, but solid, well cooked modern Dutch food. In summer this place is jumping, out of season it is a friendly place with smiling service. The view of the canal (the Haarlemmer Ringvaart) with frequent water traffic is wonderful. On a quiet evening, we had some trouble with our car and immediately several cooks came out to see if they could help. One could do a lot worse at some of the more expensive eateries in the area.

Na een mooie fietstocht heerlijk op het terras aan het water gezeten. Personeel is zeer aardig en zorgzaam. Ondanks alle coronabeperkingen toch heerlijk genoten van een lekkere bak koffie. Wel oppassen met oversteken maar dan mag je hun niet aanrekenen maar eerder de gemeente. Nogmaals zeker een aanrader en we komen hier zeker nog een keer terug om te eten als alles weer open is.

Have lunch at Lowietje Aan de Kaag. Having lunch together with my son after some appointments and driving about 250 kilometers. What a party when you come in here and you are immediately received friendly. Staff are very friendly, spontaneous and polite. On the advice of the hostess, we opted for the Spanish omelette. Do you know that? ... that after the second bite you think, I'll be back here soon. As said, the food was really great, as was the service. The store is very beautiful and stylish. Also not unimportant in the present time, safety measures are neatly observed. Still gives a reassuring feeling. Big five stars from me and my son and I can only highly recommend Lowietje Aan de Kaag.

After a bike ride we sat on the terrace, sweet / attentive staff and decided to stay for a snack. The main course was delicious, here they really went for quality and good ingredients. Then be tempted for dessert, the chef's special. A stale brownie, probably from the local supermarket shelf with a scoop of ice cream from the freezer next to it. At home, but washed down with strong coffee. Definitely 4 stars without dessert, but you really shouldn't serve this anymore 😕
