Amazing city. The city center is breathtakingly beautiful. Highly recommended for one day visitors and to live!

Nice little station but as it was before it was much more convenient for the travelers. It was really easy to get from the train station to the bus station and vise versa. You also have to walk a lot up and down again to get to the train platforms/bus station. Otherwise it is easy to find your way around.

Started with being unable to access the train station because I had less than €20 on my card! I’m a tourist and only here over night! Amsterdam Central never advised me of this when I originally purchased the travel card for €7.50!!! Extortion!!! I topped up the card with €20 when I arrived in Holland and you’d think she could have mentioned this to me... I even had to pay 0.50 for the privilege of using her “services” to top up the card... what a laugh! Seriously get with it... you need to treat your tourists better! Now back to Alkmaar Customer Services... no service and customer - ticket sales lady told me good riddens! Well I’ll not be back and will not be recommending Alkmaar as this treatment arriving and leaving has left a bad taste in my mouth even though I’d a wonderful in the city itself! Toilets out of order!!! Told to go across the street and pay 0.75 for the privilege to pee! :)))) Do not eat in Denny’s Turkish Restaurant if you are a female - no respect by the owner. Was ignored numerous times even when paying my bill!!! So Alkmaar as I depart on the train to Haarlem I suggest arrive and leave by bus if at all possible because the drivers have been very polite, respectful and friendly to a solo female travelling with a disability.
