Reviews
Was welcomed by a friendly, courteous guy. The facilities were in good working order, there's a nice big cosy chair to relax on and I especially liked the mint tea :). However I was not at all satisfied with the level of cleanliness, considering this is tourist accommodation. Being an annex in a private residence, I requested extra clean bed linen and was really quite shocked and appalled to find that the bedding very obviously hadn't even been given one recent clean, let alone efforts made at anything approaching 'extra clean.' This is disgusting conduct. To be painfully honest the unsavoury bed, which also happened to slope down on one side, kind of ruined my trip, as it was so tangibly unclean that I couldn't get under the duvet or relax into a sleep. Consequentially I subsisted on a very paltry one-two hours sleep a night. This is unacceptable, given I paid in the region of £300+ for a three night stay (!). I found a grain of rice in the bed - come on now, are you taking the piss?
I booked the stay due to the room having a private terrace, only to find on arrival that I wouldn't be able to use it for smoking. This was upsetting as it was the main reason I booked and annoyingly there was no way to speak to the owners regarding this prior to booking. I found a small ballet shoe under a cushion on the terrace sofa outside.
A pair of black flip flops were left in my bathroom, in addition to no toiletries, which I don't think is very cool (or professional, as seemingly, this guy is running a business?). The kitchenette was fine however there were no standard size bowls or plates provided, which scuppered any plans to eat a normal-sized dinner.
Temperature-wise, the room was rather cold, not overly so, but perhaps the gentleman forgot to advise regarding use of the heating system, which again made for a more unpleasant stay.
Awkwardly so, it did unfortunately seem at times that the inhabitants of the adjoining property were sometimes paying a little too close attention to me, often standing right by the through-door, speaking slowly but loudly. This could be construed as unsettling.
Aside from these major issues the residence is in a good location with reasonable access to the centre and the general atmosphere wasn't terrible.
