With the recovery of the RAF bomber Short Stirling W7630 from the Second World War in the municipality of Echt-Susteren in September 2019, the National program for the recovery of aircraft wrecks has started. In the coming years, the Ministry of the Interior will support municipalities in the recovery of aircraft wrecks. The bomber Short Stirling W7630 crashed in the area of Echt-Susteren in the night of September 10, 1942 after being fired on by a German night fighter. Six of the eight crew members, British and Canadian, did not survive the crash. Four of them are still registered as missing. "The National Plan for the salvage of aircraft wrecks does justice to the wishes of the relatives of the crew members who died.

Very impressive monument with the propeller of a P-47 Thunderbolt (which was not shot down here) in front of a V that stands for Victory. So informative boards on WW2 locations, I would also like to many a place in D. By the way, I have something researched to the B-17, which is on the board - Shack Bunny, whose crew members fortunately the originally planned attack on Düren on 30.05 .1943 and the war in captivity (see photos).
