Bunkermuseum Schlei

Museum is in an actual bunker. Good info about the time of occupation and the liberation. All in Dutch. Some German notes, as well. Was interesting that most of the German commanders were regular men, not professional military, and got along well with the locals. All except for the last one.

Sadly closed on our two visits!

A nice museum where it is told in the history of the war that something like this is preserved.

Well-preserved bunker with fair admission prices. Unfortunately, some areas were blocked, which would surely have provided additional, interesting information. The 3 € can definitely be invested to get an impression of the time of the war.

For those who are interested, this is certainly worth knowing the history of Schiermonnikoog as part of the Atlantik Wal. A part is dedicated to the narrow-gauge railway that was built and operated in the war years to supply the building materials for the bunkers. For the admission price of 3 euros you must not leave it. Since this museum is supported by volunteers, the opening hours are limited.
