Openluchtmuseum Het Hoogeland

A beautiful experience for me.

Pretty and well kept "museum": it's actually a small village with its different shops and houses maintained as it was in circa 1850. It's very peaceful and can offer a view on how different life was not so long ago (very interesting to see how short Dutch people were back then!). There are explanations, but only in Dutch. There is also a nice cafe where it's possible to eat and drink.

A great place to see how the people in the north of the Netherlands used to live about 100 years ago (or maybe more). One can walk in the old pub, little shop, the school room which is a part of the teacher's house, old printing press, the fisherman's house and more. This museum also houses one of the first mills designed to use the wind power to saw wood. It is a working small scale windmill built as a proof of concept.

Make your way to this wonderful folk museum if you are close to Warfum.
