Great museum with an impressive historic science collection. Marvel at original microscopes from Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek, old globes, medical history as well as anatomy specimens, the work done by Christaan Huygens (pendulum clock, physics, astronomy),... Along the way there are several fun activities for kids. Staff is kind and helpful. My daughter often finds one of the knowledgeable volunteers around to answer her questions (or bring her into contact with someone who can). Ideal for curious kids and adults alike!
Tips for parents with younger children:
1. The anatomic theatre show can be a bit overwhelming for smaller children. It is best to go upstairs (stairs outside the anatomic theatre, if you walk around they are located at the back) and watch it from above. Here it is easier to watch or not watch if it is too much for them, and in the latter case they have space to walk around and can still enjoy the lights on the floor, walls and ceiling.
2. There is an inner courtyard with a water playground where children can build dams, play with boats, test out Archimedes spiral etc. You can sit either in the sun or the shade there and bring food/drink from the shop or from home if you please. Sure to make for a relaxing and fun break!
The most fun I've had in a museum in ages! Apart from a great and interesting collection, the museum offers diverse ways to experience it too. I would visit again and again without getting bored. I do wish they offered more information in other languages too.
I really liked the experience. if you like science this is a place that you will definitely enjoy. it is not very big, but it offers a bit of everything. from ancient times, till modern era.
Great not so little museum! Pleasantly surprised about the size and the collection. Absolutely worth a visit.
Nice museum with interesting artifacts and good descriptions. They currently also have a very good exhibition on epidemics which is done very good, especially relating to the current Pandemic.
